FXFOWLE, in collaboration with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, designed an expansion to The Juilliard School’s 1969 building, which the school had outgrown. The project added 39,000 square feet of space within a new four-level wing above Alice Tully Hall’s lobby, including new teaching studios, practice rooms, orchestra rehearsal room, dance rehearsal room, black box theatre, general purpose classrooms, and faculty and administrative offices. The expansion allows Juilliard to maintain its academic and performance excellence. Additionally, the entranceway was reconfigured to bring performance to the street level.
